COVID-19 News & Considerations

The hard reality of this season is that a global pandemic makes it very tricky to plan ahead all that far. We have to adapt and re-think a lot of things. I want to do everything I can to help cultivate a youth group experience that is enriching for everyone and something they look forward to. I also want students and parents to feel safe, especially those who have at-risk family members.

That being said, we will be following the COVID-19 safety guidelines to the extent that we are able. What does that mean?

  • Outdoor activities will be planned as much as possible so as to encourage social distancing.
  • Masks will be required for indoor gatherings where it is impossible to socially distance.
  • Youth Group gatherings will be held in the sanctuary so distance may be kept.
  • For families who might be doing "learning pods" (small groups of students working together in-person) for their children's schooling, if there are those at youth group you feel comfortable allowing your children to sit with because they are in a learning pod together or are in regular contact with already, they may do so.

The most important thing I ask is this:
Whether you're pro-masks, anti-masks, or somewhere in between...
  1. Determine what your family needs
  2. Let me know how I can help
  3. Coach your children on how to meet those needs when they are at youth group and to respect other peoples' needs

Lastly, if you do not feel comfortable sending your child to youth group right now, please contact me if you would like me to have a Zoom meeting available for the lesson each week for your child to log on. I am happy to have my computer set up during the lesson so your child can still learn about the Bible with their peers.

Keep in mind, too, that guidelines may change, and we will need to be prepared to adapt over the coming months. When that happens, I will be contact about what you can expect for the youth group.

As always, I am here to answer any questions or talk through any concerns you may have.
